This picture was inspired by one of my favourite TV programmes. It is called Animal Park and it is filmed at Longleat Park in Wiltshire. They had a really grumpy parrot and I had already painted the foliage and birdcages and didn’t quite know what to do, until I saw the programme. The parrots were inspired by that grumpy parrot on the television and his name was Rio. I can remember shouting, ‘Ah yes, parrots!’ at the television, but I wasn’t sure whether to make the birds fly, or whether to make them sit like they are. This is part of a 60s kind of image, a style I am working in at the moment. It wasn’t the easiest picture to paint, which is why it’s taken me so long to put it up here, so sorry for the delay! I’m glad to back!”
